Theme day: Best of 2010

Posted in Bahnstadt, theme day on January 1, 2011 by D.B.

Personally, my picture of the year should be one from our engagement one year ago today, or one from the fabulous wedding that followed, of course. But that would be too personal, I guess. Photo-wise, I chose this one instead.

HAPPY NEW YEAR, everyone, and a happy theme day, too!

Time’s almost up

Posted in Bahnstadt on December 31, 2010 by D.B.

So, the year is almost over. What a year it has been! I hope you had one nearly as good as I had. At least three, or rather four personal dreams have come true. So much luck – it almost makes you feel suspicious about next year.

Thank you all for following and supporting this blog. I don’t know for how long it’s going to continue on a regular basis in 2011. It depends on what life as a family father is going to be like!

(Today’s picture is a second look at this building, of course).

… and new

(New) Eppelheimer Straße runs through the area of future Bahnstadt quarter. One of the first buildings put up was this giant hardware store, due to open next week.

Two picture sunday: Grid pattern

A fascinating painting on an old railway building between Wieblingen and Bergheim. It houses a company that design and build playgrounds only from natural material. I wonder if they built this one.

Here’s a closer look at the newspaper print style painting.

Coming soon

No football nor celebration scenes today… Last night’s semi-final didn’t really live up to the expectation. For the first time this tournament, our players seemed to be overwhelmed by the chance of glory. Where had all the coolness, the accuracy in passing, the free-flowing movement gone? The Spanish team were in full control most of the time and created far more chances – well done to them! Now it’s time to rebuild for the third place play-off and then on to Euro 2012.

Today, we’re at the sight of the future shopping centre of Bahnstadt quarter. A giant home improvement store is slowly rising; the brand sign is already up.

Lightning III

A final picture of lightningstructure. From a distance, it really looks like a modern city skyline.  Sorry for the repetition, but I’d like this to appear on the CDP portal at least once now that it’s been repaired.

I include additional shots into yesterday’s post. Tomorrow, there’ll be a change of subject.
