Contraction

I still haven’t found the time to get out and about for new pictures; and just today it’s raining cats and dogs. So, I’m still living off my archive at the mo, sorry for that.

Here is another shot from Karzer prison. ‘O Constable, if only I could challenge you to a duel’, the red graffito reads. I like it for the use of the word ‘kontrahieren’. This challenging meaning has been lost over the years; but it still echoes in the German word Kontrahent (opponent). Today, you’d be tempted to think that some wanted to shrink a policeman (as in contraction).
