Handschuhsheim

Legend has it that the former village of Handschuhsheim got its name from a glove that was lost by a lady, found by a knight and then sent to the “Handschuhs Heim” (glove’s home). A great story, and completely made up. The name actually goes back to an abbot called Antyses who owned some land there in the early middle ages.

Anyway, the glove made it into Handschuhsheim’s coat of arms, the crest of the local sports club and can be found all over the place. In this case, a blacksmith has made it his own.

  1. I think I like the made-up story better. 🙂
