Ginkgo II

Close-up of the roof structure of friday’s museum. There’s a couple of architectural references to the shape of a Ginkgo leaf in there.

  1. I’ve never seen a ginkgo so I’m lost there, but this is a fabulous shot! I really love how you see art in the shapes and colors of buildings.

  2. Thank you, Hilda. I’ll try and do a shot of the tree itself later. For now, you can look up Ginkgo Biloba on Wikipedia. Maybe you’ve heard the name Maidenhair tree. They are really unique and easily recognisable. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ginkgo_biloba

The way the leaves are split in the middle is repeated in the museum’s end wall (not pictured here). It also inspired Goethe to think of himself and Marianne as two parts of one unit.

  3. Nice colors and shapes: STYLISH too.
