Hollow there!

To be honest, I had no idea who J.M. Hohl (‘hollow’) or his sons were before I posted this. Apparently, they were running an art metal workshopin the late 19th century, right where my workplace is these days. Until recently, there was a worksmith’s around the corner named “Hohl & Welk”, so there probably is a connection somewhere in there. Maybe J.M.’s great-grandsons. Or daughters, who knows. Times are a-changing. Business ended in 2007.

This gate, by the way, is to be found near the funicular lower station.

  1. It’s certainly a nice piece of metal art.
